Chandelier Costs Vary

When you think of chandeliers you think of fiery glass or crystal pieces strung together with wire or heavy twine to form a flowing waterfall of light reflection that is usually hung from a hook on the ceiling.

Chandeliers usually hand in a large hallway or over a big dining room table.

One way to increase the resale value of your current home is to find creative ways to use chandeliers. A chandelier is relatively easy to purchase and can be installed in a week. Usually there is not any redirection of electric lines in a room. Most chandeliers can just be hooked into the grid as is. You will need to consider the size of the room before buying a chandelier. Then decide whether or not to purchase a modern chandelier from a home store such as Lowe’s of Home Depot or to go to an antique dealer and find a chandelier that has a long history behind it. The entire process can be stress free. In order to put up a chandelier you do not have to repaint or put up wallpaper. This is a change that you can make to your home that is minimally invasive and easy to do.

A chandelier can cost a lot of money depending on the size, the type of crystals used and the history of the item. Historically, though, decorators report that adding a chandelier to the interior of a home can add two to three times the value of the item to the sale price alone. Since using chandeliers is a personal taste, some people are a little skeptical of trying it to change the value of their home.

A chandelier can be refitted to fit a lamp post so that it can be used as a floor lamp. This will allow the sparkle and shine to continue from the darkened corners of the room or beside a book case or table. This is a good project for a historic chandelier. Be certain that the crystals are secured to the frame of the chandelier so that they will not come loose. Try to clean them with a damp soft cloth so there will not be any fingerprints on the crystals. If the crystals on your chandelier are not old but are modern, they may have a dust repellant added so that they will not have to be cleaned more than once a year. Crystal chandeliers should always be cleaned when they look dusty.

There are various types of crystals used in chandeliers. Today’s crystals are likely to be Swarovski crystals similar to those available in decorations, craft stores, and other places that make and design jewelry. When you need to have your crystals cleaned it is a good idea to consult someone who knows what they are doing. It can be done by you and by hand if you have the time to go over each item yourself but it can be a long tough job.
